Our Family Meal Plan, Back to Routine Edition 06/01/14 - £51

This week is our first week back to routine after the Christmas holidays, and despite my plans for us to ease back into things, this week is a busy one for me with work and a couple of evening meetings.

Breakfasts will be porridge with cinnamon and sultanas for extra flavour.  My 3 daughters will be taking packed lunches, either Spicy Vegetable Patties with herby yoghurt dip and crudites in lunchboxes or Root Vegetable and Red Lentil Dhal in flasks with fruit and a baked treat for afters.  My husband and I will be having leftovers or dhal for our lunches.  Weekend lunches will be Twice Baked Potatoes and Mixed Vegetable Fried Rice.

As usual I compared the cost of my shopping, my groceries cost £51.32 from Asda on 5th January 2014.  Had I shopped elsewhere my groceries would've cost £55.35 from Tesco or £58.98 from Sainsbury's.

  2. The risotto sounds lovely, I never really know whet to do with pearl barley though other than adding to soups! Another of yours to add to my list to try!
